Innoviator is pleased to announce the recent issuance of EASA STC 10077043 which signifies the completion of the EASA foreign validation process for FAA STC SA04459CH. This STC creates additional antenna real estate on between the horizontal stabilizers. The STC removes the existing cover assembly and relocates the anticollision light to free up real estate.

Innoviator recently expanded this STC to provide additional approved configurations for UHF/SATCOM antennas and the addition of several GPS configurations. Aerial mapping outfits have found the dual-GPS configuration especially useful to avoid signal interference from noisy fuselage-mounted antenna(s).

Sisters, OR

Innoviator, LLC recently obtained FAA Supplemental Type Certification (STC) approval for the installation of a modular antenna platform between the horizontal stabilizer on Beechcraft King Air 200, A200, B200, 300, and B300 aircraft. The King Air is a popular special missions aircraft with extended range options to maximize range and loiter capability.

The King Air, however, has limited real estate for installation of external antennas. Innoviator STC SA04459CH creates additional antenna real estate on between the horizontal stabilizers. The STC removes the existing cover assembly and relocates the anticollision light to free up real estate

Minimal modifications are required on the airframe side to accommodate installation of the structural panel. Initial STC approval includes installation of Sensor Systems antenna P/N S65-8282-196 or a blank panel for future antenna provisions. Reacting to market demands, Innoviator is already working to add configurations that install a bat wing antenna and a dual-GPS configuration for aerial mapping configurations.

The minimally invasive installation installation can be completed quickly with most of the work being completed away from the aircraft. The longest on-aircraft activity is waiting for sealant and touch-up paint to dry.

Innoviator will have PMA-approved kits available in the coming weeks. Innoviator also has a mobile installation team that can travel to minimize impact to aircraft operation.

Have an antenna that you would like to see installed on this antenna panel? Would you like to learn more about this STC? Contact Innoviator at 541-719-1797 or sales@innoviator.com.

Innoviator Flight Science and GoAeroMx Announce STC issuance for ADS-B OUT with UAT on Airbus A300 and A310 Series Aircraft

This STC provides an ADS-B solution with added EFB enhancements.

Sisters, OR – Wednesday, June 20, 2018

Innoviator, LLC, announced today that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for installation of Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) OUT for the Airbus A300 and A310 family of aircraft. The STC (ST04309CH) is now approved and suitable for use on Airbus aircraft. This ADS-B solution pairs FreeFlight Solutions (FFS) Model 1203C Spaced Based Augmentation System (SBAS) Global Positioning System (GPS) Receivers with ACSS transponders meeting the 2020 FAA mandate for ADS-B OUT in the United States (US). In addition, the STC also incorporates FFS RANGR RX ADS-B IN Universal Access Transceiver (UAT) and WiFi module to allow flight crews operating in the contiguous US to benefit from enhanced Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) applications, including own ship GPS Position and Flight Information Services – Broadcast (FIS-B).

“The scope of the ADS-B program is one that creates a simple and reusable design that can be implemented across multiple airframes from different manufacturers,” said Steve Marsan, Principal & Structures DTA DER. “The Innoviator team focused on design objectives and have produced an architecture that yields commonality for all stakeholders.”

Innoviator Flight Science teamed with GoAeroMx on this project for production, program coordination, and parts fabrication. GoAeroMx will be offering a PMA’d kit for STC installations. The design philosophy utilizes common parts that will be leveraged for installations across multiple aircraft types.

“We are very pleased to make this STC and PMA kits available to operators of the Airbus A300 and A310 family to meet and exceed the requirements for ADS-B OUT,” said Neil Sparkman, Vice President Technical Operations. “This package is crafted around a concept to allow for ease of installation and minimize aircraft downtime.”

This STC will be made available to Airbus operators around the globe. Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA) and optional remote integration services provide a streamlined installation process and allow customers easier access to ADS-B solutions.

Innoviator Flight Science has obtained another STC for In-Seat Power System (ISPS) across the CRJ product line. Innoviator was called upon by a major airline needing help, when the airline was informed the initial ISPS integrator was unable to deliver. With the prototype aircraft on the ground, Innoviator worked hand-in-hand with mechanics on the floor to develop a design data package and tooling resulting in a 10 day ISPS installation. The prototype aircraft returned to service with ISPS provisions. Innoviator leveraged the provisional data which resulted in a timely STC project letter; the Innoviator STC data package, parts and PMA kitting were approved within five months. Innoviator is nearing delivery of 50% aircraft completion, and PMA kits are available for all CRJ’s worldwide.

Aviation has embraced action cameras such as the GoPro since their introduction. Action cameras have found their way into cockpits and onto wings for flight recording and post-flight footage review. Innoviator has taken action cameras to the next level. When the first installation of SAAB’s Civil Aircraft Missile Protection System on a BBJ required CFD validation and recorded footage. The traditional solution of flying a chase plane, presented higher costs and did not mitigate data acquisition risks.

Innoviator’s creative thinking led to the action camera market which recently added functions such as WIFI transmission for remote monitoring and GPS for collecting flight parameters such as velocity, altitude, and flight path. Thorough research and testing coupled with Innoviator’s rapid prototyping capabilities, led to a low cost alternative to a chase plane. Innoviator’s camera system has a life of up to 7 hours, records high-speed footage, and provides real time monitoring during flight – all at 400 mph.

Over the weekend, a team of Innoviator Engineers and PATS Aircraft Systems Employees finished rigging the missile warning sensors on the first BBJ-installed CAMPS system. CAMPS is a Saab-produced system that was built from the ground up for Civil Aviation applications.

CAMPS (like most Missile Warning Systems) calls for a very tight aiming tolerance on the sensor azimuth and elevation. Validating the pointing accuracy is a tricky job that required custom tooling and precise surveying of the aircraft. We’re happy to report that we’re well within spec and one step closer to delivery of this unique system. Flight test begins early 2014…
